Dorothy Dennehy's Interview

JT:   Welcome, Dorothy, to JT Book Interviews. And who is this handsome and distinguished man by your side?

DOROTHY:   Thank you for inviting us. This is my very good friend, and sometimes legal counsel, Rolin Montase.

JT:   You, and Rolin, along with HB, have just come off a high profile case that you worked in Detroit, correct?

DOROTHY:   Yes, and you can read all about it in Beholden to None. This was a personal case – not as intense as Lightning Strike, but it centered around my number 1 investigator, HB. So Rolin and I had a vested interest to see it resolved as quickly as possible.

JT:   Sources tell me you rattled some pretty important cages at City Hall and a prominent law firm?

ROLIN:  Due to client confidentiality, I’m sure you can appreciate that Dorothy is unable to provide details about the case at this time, but as she noted, all is revealed in Beholden to None.

JT:   Of course. Dorothy, how long have you been a p.i.?

DOROTHY:   More than a few years, JT! After leaving the force in Boston, I moved to the Portland area. With my dad’s help, I put together a top-notch team.

JT:   Tell us a bit about your earlier cases, The Silk Shroud and Lightning Strike?

DOROTHY:   The Silk Shroud will always be a special case to me. It’s where I met Paul Webster. He was a new client with a unique request. He couldn’t understand why someone had planted two beautiful Geisha dolls in his life. These weren’t Barbie-size dolls either, JT. But about three feet high and their design was stunning. They contained secrets, with far reaching consequences. But it all had to do with a high profile business merger involving Paul and his company. And some vile characters I prefer never to meet again.

JT:   I understand there was more than one romance which developed during this case?

DOROTHY :  There certainly was!  The Silk Shroud case resulted in new relationships, and treasured memories.

JT:   So why a houseboat?

DOROTHY : If you don’t mind, I’d prefer not to comment on that. Privacy, and security, issues.

JT:   Of course. Let’s move on to Lightning Strike. Can you tell us why this was such an emotional case for you?

ROLIN:   I’ll have to stop you there, JT. Dee – Dorothy – finds it very difficult to speak about this one. It was tough for all of us, myself included. Sometimes losses are not quickly recovered from.

DOROTHY:   Thanks, Rolin. JT, all I will say about Lightning Strike is that it showed me the best, and worst, side of family dynamics. And how life can change in an instant.

JT:   Like a lightning strike?

DOROTHY:   Exactly!

JT:  Thank you both for being with us today. Perhaps at a future date, we can talk with some of your team. And of course, your father, Max Dennehy. Maybe he’d bring along some of his famous Irish Chili!

DOROTHY:   Ah, so you’ve heard of Dad’s culinary skills? He knows all about comfort food. Thank you for having us – I hope people will be interested in reading about cases Quail International – Investigations and Security have taken on.
